Assessment

Assessment Begins With the End in Mind

To achieve a comprehensive review, we measure ourselves on three levels: Institutional Assessment, Programmatic and Departmental, and Course Assessment.

What is Our End-Goal as a University?

Ultimately, we want our students to graduate with the knowledge, skills and experience to be competent and successful health care professionals. If this is the goal, how do we measure if we have achieved it? How do we know that our students are learning what we said they were going to learn? Answering that question is the purpose of "Assessment."

To achieve a comprehensive review, we measure ourselves on three levels: Institutional Assessment, Programmatic and Departmental, and Course Assessment. On an ongoing basis, we collect and analyze evidence documenting the extent to which students are achieving the stated course, program and institutional outcomes. And if — based on our findings — we are not achieving the desired results, we put into action a plan to modify our approach with the intent to achieve better results the next time we measure ourselves and our students.
